Yearly student exchange of Theodor-Heuss-Gemeinschaftsschule with schools in Meaux (25 miles east of Paris) and Othis (35 miles north of Paris) for a fortnight in March. Return visit of the French students in May. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. The teacher in charge is Kristina Kraft.

Yearly student exchange of Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium with Vestfyns Gymnasium on the isle of Fyn, regularly for 6 weeks from May. Return visit of the Danish students to Preetz in autumn. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. The teacher in charge is Maria Rademacher.

Yearly student exchange of Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium with the American high school for a fortnight in September/October. Return visit of the American students in March. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. Varied cultural programmes, a presentation of the exchange in English as well as an account of the journey. The teacher in charge is Sönke Hutsch.

Yearly exchange between Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium and the high school branch of the Swiss school in Blonay, for about a week, for grades 7 – 9. Students travel to Switzerland in February or March. Return visit of the Swiss students in May or the beginning of June. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. Excursions and the keeping of a diary. The teachers in charge are Jutta Konen and Sabine Richter.

Alternating yearly exchange between Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium and the Estonian school for about a week for grades 8 – 9. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. The teachers in charge are Antje Kruse and Ulrich Hetzer.

Yearly student exchange of the Vocational High School Preetz with the German School Hurlingham (Instituto Cultural Roca) in Greater Buenos Aires. The German students travel to Argentina for about 8 weeks (summer holidays inclusive). The return visit takes place in January. Students attend lessons and stay with host families. Individual excursions in both countries are possible. Joint extra-curricular programme.

Every year the Vocational Training Centre Plön makes use of several Erasmus programmes to enable students to gather vocational experience in other European countries (Estonia, Austria, Spain, in the near future: Finland, France, Italy)

• Technical College for Social Education Preetz: 10 weeks of practical instruction as part of the training to become an educator e.g. in Estonia, Austria and Spain
• Vocational College Plön/Preetz (BFS3): For commercial assistants, nursing assistants, technical assistants: 4-6 weeks as part of the practical training in e.g. Estonia or Austria. For assistants in social education: 3 weeks of practical training e.g. in Estonia or Austria.
